Founder's Note

I built this because I kept having the same conversation.

Writers — serious writers, people who had been at this for years — would tell me they felt stuck. Not because they lacked ideas. Not because they lacked discipline. Because they did not have a clear picture of where they stood.

They could describe their writing in general terms. They knew their genre, roughly. They had a sense of what they were drawn to. But when I asked them to describe their voice specifically — what made it distinct, where it was strong, where it was in friction — most of them could not do it.

That gap is not unusual. It is actually the norm. Most writers develop their craft through practice, not through structured reflection. They get better at writing without necessarily getting clearer about what they are writing toward.

"The intake is designed to surface that clarity. The questions are not easy. They require you to think carefully about things you may not have articulated before. That is the point."

The reports are built from what you actually write in response to those questions — not from a template, not from a persona.

I wanted the reports to feel like a conversation with a thoughtful, honest reader who had paid close attention to everything you said. Not a cheerleader. Not a critic. A reader who could tell you what they actually saw.

Whether we have achieved that is for you to judge. But that is what we were trying to build.
